Novabel New Facial Shaper Temporarily Withdrawn
Novabel has been temporarily withdrawn from the market following reports of temporary bruising, swelling and lumps particularly under the eye area. The company has decided to look at this further before promoting it further, and is acting in an entirely responsible and cautious way. It should be stressed that any product injected into the face, particularly in a sensitive area like under the eyes, is likely to cause some bruising and swelling straight after. With a more traditional dermal filler made of hyaluronic acid (Restylane, Juvederm Ultra, Teosyal) these side effects are likely to be more pronounced than Novabel. The only reason Novabel has been suspended for now, is that the company wanted to promote a filler that did not cause any of these usual problems and as soon as they have either found a solution to this or a treatment to counteract the side effects, it will be back on the market. It can still be used in the meantime and is still an extremely safe and effective treatment. The side effects reported have all fully resolved so there are no safety issues and anyone who has recently had Novabel is fortunate to have experienced such a revolutionary effective treatment.

Thank you very much for your comment. I am really sorry to hear about your problem. We withdrew the product as soon as the problems with novabel came to light, and I had fortunately only used it on a few patients, all of whom have had good results so far. I apologise that my website still advertises novabel (I have just asked my website developers to remove it) but I did blog about it as soon as I realised the problem.
When novabel was first launched we all thought it was such a fabulous new addition to the aesthetic market and it really was lovely to use. The lesson I have learnt from this, is not to go ahead and use new products, however good they appear to be, until they have been out on the general aesrhetic market for long enough to prove their safety and any medium/long term problems.
How have you found the company in dealing with your complaint? Have they been supportive? I know you sent me this comment a few weeks ago so I wondered if you had noticed any improvement since then? Have they been diagnosed as true granulomas? If they are not true granulomas, they may subside with time and I personally would recommend massaging the area to encourage the product to be dispersed and metabolised by the body mre quickly.
