Amanda Pierce The BBC have invited me to talk to them about anti-ageing treatments on radio Lancashire tomorrow morning, so if you tune in, I should be on air between 9.30 and 10am. They have asked me to come and talk to them about anti-ageing treatments and how popular they have become, and what types of people have treatments. This interest has been triggered by a recent scientific study that has just hit the news, in which scientists have discovered how to reveres the ageing process in mice. Yes mice. Not men…but interesting all the same! The study actually talks about the impact this scientific breakthrough could potentially have on life expectancy and focusses more on disease prevention and reversing the ageing process in the major organs of the body, rather than just ‘looking younger’. However, radio Lancashire have invited me to talk about aesthetic treatments (Botox, dermal fillers) as a slightly different angle on the whole age reversal debate.

When they asked me on the phone today what type of person has these treatments, the answer is simple. Everyone. Not literally of course, but people from all walks of life, male and female and all ages from 18 and upwards. You may be surprised? Why would an 18 year old want Botox? Well on the whole they don’t, and I for on would not give it to someone so young for cosmetic reasons alone, but lip enhancement is one of the most popular treatments I perform (and one in which I specialise) and can give gorgeous natural looking results for someone who just wants slightly plumper lips. At the other end of the spectrum, I also have a lady in her eighties, many in their seventies who also want their lips plumping (usually due to lost volume through the ageing process) as well as the ever popular botox and dermal fillers. Men and women have their cheeks filled and sculpted which help sunken eyes (another treatment I specialise in) and this can start from as young as the twenties. You may well imagine a glamorous set of people coming forward for these treatments and yet although some are, not everyone is and you would probably be surprised, as everyone is different and wants different treatments. Their goal is usually the same though, young and old. They all want to feel better about themselves. They want to look fresh faced and well. The best treatments are those where the minimum amount of intervention or procedure is used, to create the maximum effect which is one that is subtle and natural, never looking like you have had anything done.

So if you’ve nothing better to do tomorrow morning, why don’t you tune in to Ted Robbins and listen to what we have to say! You never know, you might learn something…!
